[Business] Takin' Care Of

It was only a matter of time til I joked with the new tag system.

I've been working hard at getting things in order for practicum applications! I have Dyland to thank for that. My resume has been overhauled (And is hopefully industry-standard...) and now is fine-tailored to specifically talk more about what I've gained from school.
As well, I whipped up 2 demo reels showing that there is indeed solid matter between my ears when I work with equipment or software. They're 4:3 though, so I gotta fix that as soon as I can...

Aside from that, I've also been involved in helping film (and maybe later will edit, we shall see) a music video for a local band. I'm super excited for how this project will turn out, and if it gets posted anywhere, I'll be sure to link it here!
I've also been lucky as to peak a few people's interest in my silly ol' music collection. I involved it in one piece of my work that I will post soon. As well, I know it's likely going to be involved in a show that's gong to air on TV. The small spike has me inspired to make more, so there's a chance I'll create and release more music soon. As you may expect, if I do, I'll mention it here.

[Business] Skeleton Crew

Today has been quite the day.

Nearly half our crew for our weekly show had to leave early, so we attempted to run a 20 person show with about 12 people.

We managed it, but it was chaotic for sure. I started out as a camera-person, then after shooting my story, became editor, then was set to be playback for the show, then swapped again to camera, as the studio staffing was too little otherwise.
Despite the chaos, the show itself, in my view, went quite good.
A classmate saw it on TV though, and it appears the exporting on our end or the playback at the station failed...

Thaaaaaat's television!

*cue audience laughter*
*cue credits sequence*

*cue spontaneous inexplicable fire*

[Update] Practicality

Things have been going. Not exceedingly well, but, not bad. Just going.

Wednesday I had a Rhetorical Analysis Exam. By the name you can tell it was a riveting experience. The essay was tougher than anticipated for it, though I can't tell if it's because I struggle with both reading and writing essays, or if it's that the teacher opted for higher difficulty. Either way, I'm no beacon of optimism over it, but my marks in that class are way higher than I could ever hope, so my hopes are that this doesn't destroy it.

I've gotten some word about practicums, mainly one company refuses to do any for liabilities sake. It's good to know this now, since that's something I can watch for/avoid to avoid disappointment. My prof is looking out for opportunities for us students as well, which is reassuring. I've found out that all who have one so far has been from a connection, a friend of a friend or the sort. I have someone in mind who I can fire off my resume to, so I may try the same. Simply applying is apparently not enough...

Tomorrow (Today?) is news day as well, and I may be doing a position I have not done thus far. I've worked camera op, audio, editing, and graphics, and now I'm going to attempt switching. The job sounds easy, but it requires a lot of timing on air, and understanding a massive board. We shall see how it goes.

Oh yeah March 7 was a day I suppose ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[Business] Practicum Planning Begins!

Call me a necromancer because it's time to resurrect!
Drills Infinity to be specific.

Yes, that.

I'm going to be starting slow, organizing resume and scouting potential positions and locations. By Internetwork Day, I intend to have at least 10 applications out, cover letter to send button.

I'm quite honestly just as anxious about this as I was when I started RURP 5 years ago. (For those who don't know or remember that, that was the initiative to get into University. And Drills is the career initiative.)
I'm basically where I was in 2012 when trying to get a job to stay. Though this time, the situations not as dire. But if I don't get this practicum done, I don't graduate...so this is dire in it's own way.

This may be the biggest hurdle this year... aside from essay-writing.
Probably still safer than essays though.
