Red Lightning

Spring class starts for me in a week. I have applied for everything I've said I would, (station manager, stock) so shall see what happens with those. As well, the voice demo thing is very likely to happen, sometime soonish.

Also, I may go on a road trip Wednesday, which if that does happen, I'll make a post about that next.

Finally, Don't forget to blink.
I've had eye strain on and off for the past few days, I've had to reduce screen times cuz of it.
So blinking.
Don't forget.

Happy K-Day!

As in, the day to celebrate Kaitlin!

Just for her, PTE shall remain a beautiful shade of purple until May.

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Kaitlin!

Bustin Out

Here they are, there they went. Two exams come and gone in a matter of no time. Honestly, I really liked having them as close to the end of school as they were. There was no dragging out and stressing, they just whipped by.

The Public speech exam felt like it went really good. I know thats a bad sign, but there was very little on the exam that really surprised me or made me scratch my head. I think maybe 1-2 questions tops, but overall it was smooth as butter. Fingers crossed for the mark to reflect that...

The Science-y class exam was a perfect exam for that class. It had the exact same frustrations and errors as the assignments and quizzes had. I could tell the teacher genuinely tried to make it a good exam though, and to that I will say that though it had inherent flaws (I made a 70 question quiz game I can judge this shiz) overall it still seemed like a pretty fair exam.

That said I guarentee I didn't get 100. Or 90. Probably not even 80.
Ah well, buh bye 4.0oooooooooo.

So now that schools out, that begs the question: Whats next?

First of all, not binge watching animes like Planetes. Sorry to a certain someone whos hoping I will, I am planning to check it out but I'm not planning to let it eat my time...(famous last words...)

I want to be productive! I've been toying with RO ideas as usual (I wanna play with the coding of survive the music, maybe I can improve it to a passable standard! Plus now that I've sat on it for so long I've had ample time to think on how I wanna remake it better.)

One of my instructors also got in contact with a local recording company, and if all works out, I may get a professional voice demo done! Which may help me figure out better voice act skills, meaning my recordings would be worth animating...the ball could roll...
Or some radio station or dub company might be interested! A man can dream.

I'm still also planning to apply for station manager, just gotta get my shiz together/fix my resume up. Which is another thing on the list. My mom is also looking into trying to get me a stocking job if the station manager gambit doesn't pan out, which would occupy my summer post-trip.

Oh yeah btw I'm going to hometown next month. Whoops-

Riccy Day!

Aka my birthday, was yesterday.
I spent it dragging my overtired self through final classes, which were not super enjoyable when you feel like a zombie.
I got many birthday wishes though, which really brightened up my day.
My mom also decided she wanted me to have a birthday dinner, so pizza.
Always good.
I then proceeded to stay up til 2am working on Saint Riccy. More about that on the Dev Blog.

I'm finally done classes, now it's just 2 exams to go.
Then spring classes.
I'm thinking of applying for Station Manager for next year. I dunno what I'd be in for, and I realize I'm a suck when it comes to authority, but I can be strict about having things a certain way.

I also have to organize my cds, and find out how many I truly have now. I'm sure I have a collection of at least 30 CDs of my own.

Also if you understand why I post this picture then +10 cool points for you.*

* Cool points have no value and cannot be redeemed in any way. But hey, you're that much cooler if you have 'em.

Radio Free Riccy Blowout Show!!

This is the last post you'll be hearing about Radio Free Riccy, at least for an indefinite amount of time.

Since it's a bittersweet thing (happy to be done, will miss having a show), here's some stats on RFR:

-20 Shows total
-2 Log Iterations
-24 songs per show in the first semester, 20 per show in the second
-Roughly 440 songs played in total
-~7 songs were played more than once
-~3 songs that didn't pass the FS test made it to air
-Approx 50 CDs have been bought over the course of the show to add more content
-2 optional shows skipped, 1 optional show went on air
-6 requests fulfilled
-Estimated 110 times that CD-2 failed to accept a CD (And still counting...)
-1 fat lil notebook kept all the notes for each show
-last 6 shows switched to improvisation, every other had a full script

RFR Blowout show starts at 2pm MDT [1pm PDT, 3pm CDT, 4pm EDT, 10pm CEST]
And has caused me to learn too much about time zones and light years and im weird ok i accept this fact.

With this post, I can now say that the Radio project is a success.
Now to make that happen to every other RO project...[wishful thinking]

Surefire

This week is not my final week yet. I'm partly glad for that because I need the extra time to get final assignments done.
Radio Free Riccy held a 'secret easter show' on Sunday, as the shift was optional but the show was done. This show was the penultimate show, as I've done an assignment stating that the final shows date is April 16, meaning the Sunday before it will be RFR's last. (April 12)
I intend to make RFR's final show something to remember.

Final week will likely be a brutal week, as every single day starting April 13, I have something due. (Technically starting April 12 cuz final show but RFR's fun times)
13th is a live show (10am MDT, 11am Central) I'm involved in (no speaking role for me though, sorry) called Rec Radio, it's a final on-air project with interviews and a contest and music. (Think an hour-long FNWER on steriods...don't worry I'm not writer...)
14th is the final speech assignment, the Impromptu speech, where I have to whip up a speech on the spot. (Improv/ad-lib abilities dont fail me now...)
15th is a final online test due for radio operations
16th Saint Riccy is due
17th is for studying for the
18th exam #1 (Speech)
19th is for studing for the
20th final exam #2 (Science-y Class)

And then sweet freedom. Or working on Ric Olzow stuff for real. But that's something you won't hear about here.

Careful Shout

I think I spoke too soon with the idea of disabling all comments.

I see all my last few posts have at least one comment attached to them, and frankly, these comments are helping guide me on what to post about. If there's no comments, this blog minus well be the Dev Blog. That blog gets no comments because the content wasn't what people were interested in, at least not interested in having it mixed in PTE.*

*My evidence is basis of viewcounts of posts and comments, theres a very strong correlation of RO posts and 0 comments.

So as amateur as it is, I'm re-enabling comments indefinitely. Comment if you'd like, but never feel like its something you have to do. It's just there as another thing to do on PTE.

That said, posts will try to be ~3 days again here on out. For many good reasons, I assure you.

Careless Whisper

I'm in a current short-lived reprieve, hence how this post is coming to be.

Anyway, I've been thinking for awhile now how to further improve PTE. Monthly banners have helped keep things interesting, but I've been contemplating something a little bit more on the crazy side. I think its benefits outweigh its drawbacks.

Essentially, disabled comments.

Now let me explain.
Every post has somewhat run on comments, more comments means more of an urge to post, less comments equals the inverse. This system is inherently flawed as: What happens when zero comments? Basically PTE must straddle on borderline deletion, while the burden of its existence rides on making people comment. Very faulty.

The pros of no more comments? You just come here, read posts, continue on with your life. You collect the information without having to feel any need to reply. The new system will be view based, so you can return and read it again over and over again if you still want to help PTE.

I'll be starting the no-comments on posts, and if it seems to be really working out, disabling comments on all other parts of the site, and on the Dev Blog.

In this faster moving world, the one thing we all don't have much of is time. And it's time PTE took to that mindset.
