2015: In Review

It's the post that keeps KK-N from ever claiming 'longest post' again!

All the 2015 posts, recapped, crash course!

alright here we go

January: First post began with returning from the 2014 Christmas in Hometown trip. I got the Radio Free Riccy T-shirt which I still treasure too much to wear. RFR got a new time slot, my thyroid was checked since my weight remains silly low. I started my first year, second semester with heavy groupwork and bad times with public speaking class. Then things took an upward swing when Zoo came to town to visit.

February: It didn't take long for the 5 class struggle-bus to turn into the Tetralemma, as in a 4 option dilemma in which no option is actually good. Yes I'm talented thank you.
The Dev Blog was established and linked to PTE.
I helped by being the DJ for friends of mine for their sports show. (Only 3 of the 4, I was strung out from stress on the Friday Night...Or Saturday. I don't remember. On purpose.)
A certain someone came to town for reading week amidst the chaos, and for that week I relaxed. (That was the prop collection trip if you remember that post)
Thereafter my mom got her new job, and the Tetralemma escalated, as in, two assignments could determine a positive outcome of choice.

March: The Tetralemma's finale date is set. RFR turns experimental as I go from scripts to half-improvised to full improvised. Full improved no text was really hard, if I remember correct I eventually needed notes again, but ah well.
Ric Olzow Character something you're not EVEN READING THIS
A tangent turned to me finding the first youtube video I ever favourited, which is 9 years old now. Terrifying.
Speaking of terror, thereafter came DOUBLE SPEECH TUESDAY which is like taco tuesdays but instead of tacos you have tears.
And anxiety.
Same amount of regret though.
It was around this point that the Tetralemma outcome was the unexpected: Both assignments went well. It reset the issue, and made keeping all 5 insane classes plausible.
Which as of the next posts is exactly what happened. All 5 classes were locked in, and the resolution was the most insane of options.
Then Saint Riccy began production, and my house remained still chaos, as everyone became ultra busy.

April: I started the month with disabling comments, but then it turned out to be a ruse. It was actually meant as a joke at myself, since I used (and somewhat still do) comments as a measurement of post success. If it got people talking, it had to be good right?
Though that's a theory, I'm not sure if that's really sound for quality check...
RFR had a secret penultimate show, and  my final semester week was shaping up to be a brutal week.
Then RFR had its finale, and became one of the RO project successes. (Don't count how many or you're grounded)
I had my birthday which was more suffering than anything as I finished up Saint Riccy. Finished it, presented it, went smoothly. Had 2 exams, and semester finished!
I applied for a radio job, and announced a Hometown trip.
A certain someones Birthday was celebrated!
I applied for another job in the meantime, and got eye strain. You can't spell Eric Riccy without Injury.(I mean you can but they sound pretty similar y'know?)
Then Came BIG NEWSSSSSSS

May: I got a job, I voted, another RO GARBAGE THING was celebrated, I had my spring class, I crashed my car, The voice demo was going to happen soon, and I tested a Trip Schedule!
That was it.

June: I returned from Hometown, and I started a new job. I started following a friend of mine's series (Which actually just came out of Hiatus TODAY so there's some full circle 2015 for you), and contemplated mastering Youtube. Which is impossible but "DREAM BIG" -Future PTE Slogan.
The voice demo was going to happen soon, and the location scouting for a certain other PTEr began around this time.
My computer fried thereafter, and thus began the switch to the PENGUIN ARMY.
Which remains btw. But PTE is partly still posted within glass panes, so there's that.
And a heat wave hit, which is normal for SUMMER.

July: Work picked up hours wise and I got busy. I went to a carnival and got silly sunglasses (Whiich broke, rip) and around this time is when mozilla said 'fak u' to the sobs at adobe. Test your luck went down following the security bug issue, but now remains intact and safe. (I coded it myself dammit it's legit like 2 lines of code you're fine)
Then a tornado hit New City. It was a good scare but no damage was luckily had.
The radio thing got figured out, the voice demo was going to happen soon, and I got sucked into cartoons again.

August:For the Endless8, I decided I'd be clever and add secret codes to every post. My parents went off on a trip for their anniversary, and my cousin and I watched over the house. The location scouting for the PTEr had failed and things got silly and then he was set to move in and that's all you need to know.
My sister also was set to visit later that month.
Deja Vu?
Job quit, as realizing that mixed with school would be a disaster, and I was set to relax the rest of the month.
But then, THE FLOOD HIT
We still don't know to this day what caused it, as it's never happened since.
The kitchen flooded and water was turned off and life sucked again and then a relative figured out it wasnt the intake and we got water again but then I used downstairs only and yeah.
Then my sister came to town!!
Also Dyland moved in

September: Sister visit went well, and PTE had a big change coming: Dyland joined PTE.
And made 2 posts and then never again posted.
Jokes, jokes, relax Dyland if you read this.
Year 2 (For me) began!!
I started out mad nervous for no explicit reason. Dyland started out quite strong in contrast, being very productive and getting back in the groove of work on top of that.
I rambled about agenda books, AND IT WORKED.

October: The month began with a party at a co-workers of my dad's, and it turned out to be quite fun. It was around this time that JOHN CENAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

It was around this time that THAT became a thing, and wrestling game silliness ensued.
Thereafter I concluded that home was chaos and though school was stress, at least I could focus.
I discussed my practicum ideas, and how my old house in hometown went up for sale again.
Dyland posted for back to the future day.
The month ends with a surprise brutal week, as the usual 9000% Stress with a dash of responsibility that carries the entire team on its back and insanity hits. October ends poorly.

November: The month begins with the Quattra Obligation Fiasco, where I'm expected in 4 places at once. This has NOW BECOME COMMONPLACE BECAUSE THANKS LIFE but thats how it goes.
I ended up attending the awards show because as usual the unexpected happened about 10 times and long story short I build a bridge, life makes a tsunami.
Then Zelda actually became a girl, and after 129304 joke posts it slid under the radar.
Or more likely was ignored because 'fak ur shiz ric' is what everyone thought.
I like the second outcome better.
I made a self-examining post on Dev Blog and promoted it on PTE.
What? click bait sells! (brb selling soul)
Another RO TRASH THING (I expect every comment to rip on me for ripping on RO, which will be ironic as hell, so please do)
(And now no comments, heheheh. thE PSYCHOLOGY IS REAL)
Dyland continuously blasts GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
GLORY GLORY MAN U NITED
I burned yet another weekend at school due to one simple mistake, because welcome to life.
Bought a bunch of games for Black Friday while avoiding the crowds of doom.
and I mentioned of another Hometown Trip!

December: My mom has surgery, and overtakes my room. Sentenced to the basement, I am un-phased as my Hometown trip approaches.
The Semester's schoolwork fizzles out (Finally) (Although actually it's still going because there is no off switch on work)
I went to zoo lights (No Zoo doesnt have a lights show...that I know of...) with friends, had fun.
I then went on my Hometown trip, where I saw Snowfire's First Solo Concert (She did amazing!), I celebrated my 4th anniversary, had a secret santa party (Very fun! Only a bit awkward...) and even managed to go bowling! (With Zoo , this time not the place, and yes there were lights. Wait-)
Post-trip I had family friends come from out of town with their baby daughter, leading to -MY APPARENT BABY CRAZINESS- cough it was not me- and it was  actually quite enjoyable.
Merry makers were arrested, I got back into Minecraft (And got a certain someone to play too...well technically it was zoo. BUT I HELPED MAYBE)
And discussed the potential of Hometown being my future place of residence.

After writing all that out, I can see that 2015 was a year of lots of chaos. No Food Poisoning though!
Mistakes were made, things were learned, and frankly, I have as much of 'my life' figured out as before. I ride into 2016 in a whirlwind of uncertainty, hoping that things go better than expected.

For RO, I made 3 full songs, 2 of those were published, 6 theme tunes, finished Saint Riccy, the visual novel game (Which has been lost), made the comic website, and continued the party that is PTE.
I mention this to prove that I do still work on RO, though it seems thanks to the Dev Blog that all that is known is failure after failure.
Someday, video game.
Someday, comics.
Someday, animations.
Someday, Ric Olzow.

Alright I've been at this for 2 hours. SEE YOU IN 2016 PTErs

ps hi peter

Granite City Stories

Since being home, I've been back on a Minecraft kick. Inspired to design, I've managed to make a little city that actually has a tiny economy and a bit of storyline to it.
I'm finding that making story and backstory in the game makes it more interesting, as there's more to just the blocks.

I have looked into living back in Hometown after next semester and the practicum, either to live temporarily for the practicum or more permanently post-practicum. The latter option would be eons more difficult as I'm in much the same situation now as I was when I moved back here, financially speaking. School has run me dry and I still don't want to mix work and school, based on the past failure.
And the former option is dependent on a few factors, though the latter is dependent on even more factors, so both could potentially flop. But the idea is sound!

Cya in the Year In Review.

Psssst

I think a certain someone may be baby crazy.

Z412

Yesterday I went to Zoo lights with Dyland and a few other friends. It's the second year we've done this, and as always the lights were very gorgeous. It was also warmer this year which was nicer. One friend in particular couldn't make it cuz of schoolwork, and it wasn't the same without him, but it was still fun as it was. The group make-up reminded me of middle school...

Later today I'll be flying over to Hometown.
Dyland is going back to his Hometown as well. He may post more, but shall be seen.

Schools (theoretically) wrapped up (all pun intended) for the semester.
I'll be starting to look at finding options for my practicum. I'm a bit behind the 8-ball, but not knowing exactly what I want is not a new issue for me.

In case I don't get around to posting for the 12th, here's this:

To 4 Years. <3

And forgetting Jenny.

Penultimatum

Tomorrow is either my final or more likely, penultimate day of school. I technically have no more classes, no exams. But I do still have some outstanding projects to finish up, so it will be.

I've already nearly finished packing. It's still a bit surreal to my mind that I'll be going to Hometown again. It's very exciting though. I'll be celebrating Jen- my 4th anniversary with a special someone.
I just can't wait to be done with school.

I hope to do more work on personal projects and plan out my future upon return. I am set to have guests from the east come my return. They are a couple with a baby girl, so my sleep cycle might be affected. I'm already sleeping on a couch though, and Hometown means an air mattress, so...Sleep is For The Weak.

As said before, PTE posting may be affected while I'm away.
I mean I'm tossing that to keep fluffing up the post but y'know.
Fluff's important too.
ish.

Elemental

I'm currently moved downstairs, estimated to be here til after my trip. My room is reserved for my mom, who is projected to be home soonish. She was meant to be home today post surgery, but with a complication, she's being held til it is resolved.

I've already nearly packed, I have only presents and utilities and carry-on left to pack. Schools in its final pulse, with yesterday being my one final exam. I have a meeting and op work on Friday. Monday is filming interviews. Tuesday is all that remains. Wednesday I leave.

I'm very excited for my trip. Though I always give it a hard time, I really do enjoy visiting Hometown. Mostly for the people honestly, the location gives nostalgia but if it wasn't for people in Hometown, I wouldn't go back.

Posting may be affected between Dec 9-19 due to trip. As for Dyland's posting schedule...no idea lol.

Almost December

I survived this crazy month with its 3-10 things due a week. (I mean I still have 2 right now but same ol same ol...)
Today was a bit trash as I lost my notebook with my rough draft script in it. It seems so minuscule but then the rewrite for the script (as eventually I accepted my fate and attempted to turn frustration and anger into productivity, which somehow worked..) took a solid 4 hours leading me to have a full 8 hours at school on yet another day off.
I mean really that last sentence sums up the entire last 3 months, but still. I promised more complainy posts and nobody rejected the idea and i mean I need something to fill PTE with since I haven't had time with side projects.
Although that said those wouldn't be discussed here anyway  so I dunno why I mentioned that but whatever.

I bought a bunch of games for black friday and now have been obsessing over Beat Hazard. Its a rhythm game and I've always had a soft spot for games that are based around my music collection.
I was a bit shocked as even my simplistic songs have managed to be energetic enough for the game to translate them into immensely difficult levels.
Kudos to the devs.

Yeah aside from 8 days a week at school and vidya games, I don't have much else going on. The trip's in ~9 days, I'm super excited for that. But don't tell anyone k

Amy Day

I spent 27 hours on homework this weekend.
I thought I'd spend 36.
I saved 9 hours!

Things will get a bit calmer as the semester is -beginning- to fizzle out.

That all said, back to script writing...

What It's All About

I could blabber on how I have like 9 things due by Monday, or how I'm crashing randomly from exhaustion, but frankly, endless posts about my misery is not what I imagine is what everyone wants to read.
(If you do though please comment I'll totally make 1340925 more posts about it! Happily no less! Whatever sells...!)

Instead though, at least for this post, I'm promoting a post from the Dev Blog [Link] "It's A Train Wreck!", because it's a solid lengthy post where I discuss where I'm at with creative works.
I'll take a moment here to appreciate how life and opportunity lined up enough times for me to even make the things I have. And the people who've all been involved with my stuff, and those who still stand by my side. I know I act like I'm making the next big thing always. I can be egotistic too!

But thank you all. On not Thanksgiving.
...Welcome to The Paper Train Express.

Here's your picture:

The Quattra-Obli Outcome

Since yesterday was the day that last posts shenanigans transpired, I thought a quick update on how things played out was in order.

First, I attended the ceremony. I spent the day trying my hardest to sort out the story, (as did the others involved with it! Two main members fell ill, they tried to replace both, one twice, and still needed a 3rd thereafter due to bailing.) but alas with illness and life's punches, it couldn't work out. I'm really lucky to have had the people in my corner I did, even the bureaucratic part I was trying to get worked out I had a very helpful kind person, so though I didn't get my story done and still need to scrap one together and scramble and have that noise still; I learned a lot from the experience so far and can appreciate the efforts of everyone who was involved.

The radio show meeting was bumped to noon, so I did end up attending that. My group partly didn't show up and the other that did was busy, so that solved itself.

So that leaves the ceremony, which was fancy and pretty good. My table had a classmate of mine (which I wanted to visit with more but social anxieties locked me to my chair...) which was nice to have a familiar face nearby. It was also fun to watch the ceremony, be it now that I've taken a public speaking course so I can apply what I've learned and see how it applies in a true situation.

Alright I've yammered on long enough. Abridged version is I learned nothing about organization and am the same as always.

I wish I had a Time-Turner.

The Quattra Obligation Fiasco

So I managed to quadruple book myself.

Tomorrow after classes, I have 4 different things that require my attendance.
I won a scholorship earlier this year, and tomorrow is the award show at 4pm. I said I would be able to go as of 3 weeks ago, as I didn't expect to be overly busy from school. heh.
I have an assignment to get a news story recorded and shot, and tomorrow at 4pm is when i found something happening. I have my equipment all booked, media forms filled out and am just waiting for confirmation that I can film...without trouble. heh.
I have a group project that I've been working on week after week, and my groups getting together tomorrow at 4pm to work on it. heh.
I'm involved in a radio show project and the meeting has been bumped to tomorrow at 4pm due to Wednesday being a stat holiday. heh.

I've since then 'solved' that, as in, I've got someone to fill me in on the radio meeting, I've messaged my team about not being available tomorrow. I'm either going to do the news story (If all forms go through...) and cancel my attendance to the show, or if story falls through, attend the awards show.

The rationale is that schoolwork must take utmost priority, as the scholarship was a result of school. To make best use of the scholarship, I need to continue to work at school for it.

I'm too busy.
Can't wait for December.

BRUTAL WEEK RETURNS

Yesterday I was going to make a post apologizing for post frequency and other stupidity, but it sounded like trash and I don't regret not posting trash. The Hi-post is trash too but whatever, it was a precursor to this post.

This week is definitely a Brutal Week. I didn't see it coming and have been blindsided by the sheer insanity that is normally accompanying to brutal week.

Let's go April 2010 and peer into this week, shall we?

Melancholy Monday: 5 new Projects assigned. Of the now 10 I have, 5 are due in 5 days.
Dylan's stress peaks and I get a long earful of a car ride.

Turbulent Tuesday: Abrupt wake up turns into a tire fiasco and my mom being super sick. I had to deal with situation thrown at me, with little sleep.

Wrathful Wednesday: Dylan asks me to ask for ride. Then asks me to cancel it at like 6 am. Dyland pls.
But srsly, The thing that made today truly Wrathful Wednesday is my phone died. Just outright black screen. I think the battery is shot, because plugging it in does zero.
My phone is also trash because its design makes it so i cannot take out the battery. So even if that could solve it, I can't.
I'm ready to take a hammer to my phone. It's Y3'd me.

I'm not looking forward to Toxic Thursday or Fatality Friday, even with tomorrow being no school day.

So if you're wondering how my lifes going there you go: I'm drowning in projects, suffering with luck's vengeful lashes, and wishing for December.

More on Brutal Week at it...goes. Knock on wood that things improve instead.

Happy Back to the Future Day!

Howdy

I’m not dead; I understand why you all thought that though.

Happy Back to the Future Day!

I’ve done a lot of stuff!

However, my FB and YouTube should cover it all!

That is all!

Dyland Out!

Hometown Hoper & The Future Endeavors

A post on the three-day mark AND being partly about hometown?
Truly Christmas in October.

News spread to me quite fast that my old house in hometown went up for sale again. My sister badly wants it but also cannot afford it. It's been renovated and looks very nice now.

School continues to tread along, things haven't hit insane mode yet. It's hard to believe it's already mid-october. Time flying a bit is something I don't mind right now though. This final year is a tough crunch and things will only continue to be challenging as I try to figure out what to do and where to live and how to work things out with a certain someone and yeah.

Day by day though, first step is figuring out what I want to do for an internship...
I'm deciding between so far:
-Film (Production Assistant)
-News (I want weather but I'd probably end up as java collection specialist)
-Radio ( which could go the same as above, and with that I'm torn with both on and off air duties.)

Sometimes I wish things fell into place a lot easier. Puzzles are hard.
Quizzes aren't though. ( ͡° ͜Ê– ͡°)

Anti-Productivity

With thanksgiving coming soon, I gotta say, I'm thankful I'm not working while going to school.

The decision has thus far proven itself good. Marks are staying better-than-usual, and I'm managing to stay relatively low stress, even with more projects getting started each week. I'm finding it rare that I really get to take a day 'off', everyday I find I have 5+ things to do.
...And usually end up getting to around 1 or 2 sadly. It's hard to keep continuously productive.

Or rather, hard to keep focused on things at home, as I've learned. My house is quite chaotic as I've mentioned in either here or the Dev Blog (Too lazy to check, lol) which makes it hard to do what I want/need to. Especially when I don't really feel like dealing with whatever schoolwork at the time and I'm given an out that benefits me.

But going to school helps, since I'm in an environment where focusing is the best. The only catch is then I spend most of my week at school.
That said, school is my work for now, so I suppose spending lots of time at 'work' isn't a super bad thing...

If I had the money, I'd rent an office space for RO stuff. Money well burnt.
And Nothing of value would be created.

Lightweight Champion

It's been too long since a post!
I blame my co-hort lol.

Schools definitely not letting up, but I'm so far making things work. Mondays have become an enemy of mine now, as they're both insanely long and always seem to involve new projects beginning and old projects being due. Fridays and Wednesdays have been due dates this semester too, but Monday has been the worst for it.

Dyland and I went to a party for one of my dad's co-workers today, and it was really fun. The host had 4 dogs, which were all very cute and cuddly and attention-loving and friendly and yeah.
Long story short it was cuteness overload.
And fur overload.
But very fun.
The cutest part was I'd try to pet one dog, and then the others would get jealous, and then there'd be 3, and I don't have 3 hands so it became complicated.
At one point I was using one pat to pat two dogs!

In other news, a certain meme has turned into gaming silliness. I found among my games a WWE game from like 2003, which lets you create custom characters. A bit of a character creation race has broken out, and I so far have 5 characters, 4 being from the Ric6, and one being based on yet another meme.
Long story short Riccy gets his ass handed to him by EVERYONE. So based on trajectories from a video game, I'm shutting down any ideas of me becoming a pro wrestler.
(Seriously in one round, I hit someone with a chair and a sledgehammer and STILL LOST.)

In summary: school is hard, dogs are cute, and I learned I shouldn't pro wrestle.

Also I legit look like this in the game. ^

Not butter

I'm not as nervous about assignments now, but that's thanks to getting an agenda book.
Which is weird to say since back in the day I never used my agenda at all. I'd get em annually and they'd be backpack filler for the year.
Now though, (well technically since high school) I've found I've needed them.

The oddest part is, it was my comic drawing that started me getting organized. I used to draw pages of just random crap, mostly the Ric-6 (Tino, Tim, Jenny, Amy, Riccy, later Taylor), and started making boxes to remind myself to finish assignments related to RO crap. Which evolved to boxes for each class. And thus agenda.

I still make the pages of random crap drawings. Bit more rare though cuz now I consider them spammy. And a waste of paper.

Yes I made an entire post about agendas.
But I'm not the first. ( ͡° ͜Ê– ͡°)

Schoolin makes me feel good!

Hey Everyone Dyland here!

I may be saying this for the last time in my life, school is back in session! Good to see the gang again, and honestly it's good to be back. Schoolin makes me feel good

Also, work has started up again, first night went flawless in my opinion. It's nice that the bosses saw me doing well and thanked me!

No surprise but I found out I'm a decent film editor! (Thanks Dill544)

Anywho short post I know!

But go like my newly merged Facebook page where I update a lot more.

As per usual feel free to get involved via comments!

Nerves of Paper

Since year 2's/5's beginning, I've had a building anxiety about schoolwork. I've had other anxieties about what I want to do exactly after schools finished (There's assumptions in that and I much prefer winging it, as life has taught me that plans and such typically pan out differently...) but for now, workloads themselves are eating my mind.

I've also found I've been much more tired recently. I'm probably coming down or already fighting some sort of illness, or it could be just seasonal affect disorder. (I've typically disliked fall, it always depressed me...this year it's felt less so so far though.)  It could also be a crappy sleep schedule, though 6-7 hours per night I thought was nominal for adults? (At least it's not 4....anymore...Oh high school.)

Either way I'm feeling less energetic than usual. Which clashes with my dev blog, since I've recently been super productive on my RO things.

I don't get me either. ????

Guineaus

This is the obligatory first day back to school post.

It somehow doesn't feel like a final year, but it definitely is. Everything's going to be TV-centric, and watching TV is now my homework. (A certain someone would love that...)
My class is a bit experimental, as all the equipment has been upgraded (woo!) and many protocols are going to be different because of it. I just hope I can perform as well as I did last year.

So far the biggest things I'm excited for is Weather Newscasting (Always liked meteorology, I'm odd..), TV commercial writing/production, and Editing.
I'm betting I'll look on that last statement in a few weeks and laugh, but as per first impression, that's how I feel. I could maybe see myself being a meteorologist, or at least a weatherperson for a news network at some point. Shall see how things go, of course.

There's also lots of news-casting stuff which I'm much less excited for. I'm not the best at finding and writing news. I'm better at PTEing.
Somehow my interviewing skills from FNWER have dissappeared also...

Another year of trying to improve!

Iron Dyland Man

This guy is on fire!!!!!!!!!!!! #humblebrag

Hey Everyone Dyland here!

Today will go down in the history books!

I have been more productive today than any other point in my life!

I managed to edit, render, and schedule upload three videos for YouTube.

Walk the dog with Eric Riccy, mow the lawn, play some FIFA 15, play some poor man's American Football, and baseball.

Have a second walk after supper.

And I even had time for a power nap in which I came up with a mini documentary idea!

With school right around the corner I can't be happier with myself, it feels like I've shaken off the rust of summer and went straight into school mode already!

I really wish I could make enough on YouTube to do it full time!

Dyland Out!

Strong Foundation

Hey Everyone! Dyland here!

Guess I have some time to update PTE since I'm currently bed-ridden; at least I can binge watch Red Vs Blue .

It's been an interesting week to say the least. It's never easy going into a new place that seems foreign to you, but thanks to Eric Riccy and his family the transition has been made incredibly easier.

I have a great office which has helped significantly with the production of my YouTube channel that now almost has enough content for the remainder of September. Obviously with school starting up that will impact the uploads, but hopefully my stockpiling will help keep me ahead.

I recently found out I have a scholarship for next semester, which is unfrigginbelievably helpful! But the flip side of that is, I found out that a store that my father, mother, brother and even I once worked at is closing so that puts my family in a real bind. I know there is always someone worse off in the world, but it certainly feels like we can't catch a break.

Anyhow if you'd like to get an update on my YouTube channel click this
If you want to see what I did this past summer click this

School starts soon so hopefully I feel better by then, if not that's okay I guess.

As per usual feel free to get involved via comments!

Pipe Dream

An update on madness here in the wild west:

Renos started Saturday, and by renos I mean attempting to find out the solution to the pipe issue, aka the flood of August.
We opened a hole in the ceiling of the kitchen, and did some tests, and found...

Nothing. Not a single drop of water came through.

The good news is, I have a working shower/tub and toilet again! (And Dylan too...) The bad news is, the freak accident's cause remains unknown and could happen again at anytime.
It's back to a 'we'll see' thing, but until something goes wrong, everything is okay!

In other news, school is starting in less than a week for me. Mine and my new roommate's schedules are hilariously similar which means lots of classes will be spent among friends.

Speaking of which, there's also been many plans of recording series and videos together, which means that if we can get a working set-up then I may be making my youtube channel more alive again! (Or at least my voice will grace youtube, as well as more 4 view videos attributed to me...)

More on that if anything develops! I'm researching good recording software for linux as I post this...

End of the 8

It's now September, and a post is long overdue!

I made codes for every post last month to celebrate endless8, and was going to translate them now. However, I'm a dolt and forgot what they said, so only true code-masters will know what they say. Oops!

My sister's visit went really well, it was awesome to see her again and the week flew by quicker than my entire summer. Aside from when I was in Hometown of course. ( ͡° ͜Ê– ͡°)

Also as you may have noticed from the banner, PTE is set for some epic changes. Changes so epic, PTE protocol has been rewritten. More on that on an upcoming post.

School starts in 10 days for us in New City. Exciting and Nervous can only begin to describe how I feel about my final year.
Hope I don't get senioritis...

Also before you ask, the answer is yes.

Let the party begin!

Sister comes to town today.

Light

A relative of mine who's adept with plumbing examined our house, and found the leak is from my tub's drain, hence we have water running again. I just can't use my shower. But my house has 2 others, so all is good.

I still need to try to find the part for the tub to fix it, but hopefully I will have it fixed before my sister comes to visit. I've been keeping up with my 'One productive thing a day' goal, which is helping me not succumb to potatohood.

Also the kitchen's cleaned up, there doesn't appear to be any permanent damage, fingers crossed for no other problems.

Epitome

With quitting my job as of yesterday, I thought I was due for a serene end of summer to relax before schools return.
But of course as life goes, chaos strikes when you least expect it.

So my kitchen flooded.

Essentially, I was taking a shower. Upon finishing, I heard a light water stream noise. My first thought was my dog had done something, but upon going downstairs I was greeted by water seeping down all the lights in the kitchen. The floor was ankle deep in water and the counter/island was drenched.
Long story short I flipped and got my cousin and we cleaned it up and shut off the water and water heater.
We did some preliminary diagnostics (Read: we put water down my bathtub drain with main off) and found it seems to be from the intake line, meaning the main must stay off until it is repaired.
Which the repair requires opening access to the pipe running under the second floor. Which means we need a plumber most likely.
Which means until further notice, no water. No showers. No dishwasher. No washing machine. No sinks. No running toilets.

Welcome to the Paper Train Express.

Toast Salad?

6 day stretch over, frankly so many hours in a row was good for me to get used of being on the ball for an extensive amount of time.
That said, 6am daily wake-ups do take their toll on me in time it seems. I'm sadly not a morning person.

I've tried to stay productive in general, setting out a list of chores for me to do. I figure at least 1 daily will keep me from becoming a potato. I don't wanna burn my summer away just playing games.
Also music making fizzled out again. Inspiration is a difficult thing.

That's all I got for news, things are calming down for a bit. Later this month things might get more interesting though...

8s Unlimit8d

I'm working mad hours this weekend, but come monday afternoon things will settle.
Dyland is confirmed, Later this month.
As is my sister's visit.
Aside from those, the only things I've been doing is playing vidya gaems and occasionally attempting to make songs out of loops.
I've been saving more productive projects for when I have more than just 4 hours to spare. (And don't need to wake at 6am the next morning for work...) More news on things I do once my time frees up more.

8ights

This month is going to be interesting, as it will be unlike any other year.

Starting tomorrow, I will be holding down the fort with my cousin, as my rents will be on vacation for their 25th anniversary. My sister is set to visit later in the month. Dyland may be moving in sometime soon as well.

All mighty idiot

I've been pretty bad for keeping PTE stocked with posts, but frankly theres not been much aside from work and watching cartoons going on.

Until now anyway. I recently checked my business email as I needed to re-validate my NG account (The one that hosts all the Jenny games) only to find an e-mail sent related to my station manager application.
It was the e-mail for my interview. It had been sent there because that e-mail had been the one on my resume.
I can only kick myself. I sent my resume through my school e-mail and assumed any further response would come the same way, not realizing I'd given them my business e-mail to communicate too.
Hindsight is 20/20 and I am an idiot.

Ah well.

In other news where my brain hasn't been scrambled eggs, I've potentially got my voice demo thing set up now. It will occur tomorrow. I have printed off some scripts from old ads, all based around  jobs I have/had. (1 on cars, 1 on oil and 1 on derpo. Full endless eight is beautiful.)
Hopefully they work alright. I've been practicing them but don't have them super memorized well.
I am nervous for tomorrow and hope the recording goes smoothly and well. Updates after that happens.

Finally, the cartoon I've been obsessed with is Gravity Falls. No point in keeping that incognito. LL introduced it to me. It's a very odd and silly cartoon, which I've enjoyed its random style. Helps me think up how I'd maybe do RO stuff. Riccy Rule 53.

Until next post!

Things might get w8ird n8xt month.

Swirling Skies

Yesterday was quite an interesting day, as New City nearly had a tornado. I had to take my dog and hide out downstairs for a solid hour as a precaution. Apparently aside from really strong wind and a bit of hail , nothing came to fruition, at least near me.
I count my blessings, as it was a frightening situation that worked out for the best.

In other news, I just finished a 6 day work stretch, now my hours are scaling back a bit which I don't mind one bit.
I'm soon to sort out my schooling, I have tuition paid (Which cleared my accounts...whee..) and just have planning second semester courses left to do.
More school news will come as it does.

Aside from all that, it's business as usual.

Flash and Crash

There's an ongoing thing about flash player bugs, so for safety's sake, everything that required flash player on PTE has been temporarily removed until the situation's resolved.

Spare time has become rare, but when I get it I've been using it on Steam. I got into buying games and long story short it's become the other half where youtube content used to sustain. (But I still got a decent amount of series' to watch too...)

Outside of work, Youtube and Steam, all's I've been doing is cleaning and preparing for August, since my parents have a big trip coming. (The more done before they go the less I gotta worry about.)
I may also have a PTEr moving in in August, more on that later though.

Your PTE is safe, no worries.

Also RIP Frankie, You were awesome. :(

Yes this is a real post

There's nothing much to post about. I went to a carnival thing with my cousin recently, but nothing headline-making happened the day we went. Also rides were mad busy and the only real thing that came of going was me getting hilarious new shades. (Which I've grown to love and favour...)

Work hours are normalizing, Im going to be busy busy as I'm working near 40 hours/week, but the hours are good and necessary and its working out well. (all pun intended)

[Insert aimless pointless ramble about something Ric-Olzow related here]

At least I don't have food poisoning.

1 Month until things get 'loopy'

Back in action!

As of today, both my machines are successfully and fully set up and appear to be stable.

At some point in the near future, I plan to give PTE an update. (Cuz I realize we've had same banner and background since may, RFR is finished/indefinite hiatus, etc etc.)
When that is I don't know yet, as with work hours picking up I'm finding less and less time to spend on PTE and creative things.
(Though I do wanna get into making more creative things again...)
I suppose all there is to say on that is keep checking back! (?)

Also Happy Canada Day!
I've accepted that buttons don't work.

The new set-up

My cousin had a headache and a half trying to build me a new machine, but 2 usb internet sticks that failed and 3 os's later, I have a working machine. One on Kubuntu (linux) no less.

It's working out pretty well so far. My new machine can't run flash, so my upstairs laptop is planned to be my new 'work' comp and run it instead, being as it still runs windows. The hope is that it doesnt get too bogged down by such a large program, but aside from my files and it, theres not much on the laptop. Plus all the files on the laptop are on a portable offline safely if it does.
I just gotta install all the programs on the laptop now.

Aside from computer business, not much else has been going on. There's a mad heat wave here (I think its 33 celsius today?) which is pleasant to a point, but even I can overheat.

RIpieces

Yesterday after work, I tried going on my computer and watching Youtube vids as I normally do. While doing so, my computer froze solid. Mouse wouldn't move, keyboard was moot. I restarted, and it worked normally again.
For about 20 minutes.
Then it froze again. And again. Then it, instead of freezing, just restarted.
I put it in safe mode to see what was going on, and it claimed some network issue was behind it.
My cousin tried to fix it, then we decided that maybe this was a sign to install a new OS.

So I dumped my files to his portable, and we installed kubuntu (Linux). At first the internet gave issue, but it turned out to be a wireless usb internet stick that didnt work with linux, which was replaced successfully.
The new setup worked...until the monitors started to black out randomly.
And thus we figured out..my motherboard was malfunctioning.

Now I'm deciding wether to buy new computer, new parts to replace the broken motherboard, or buy a second-hand from a trusted source.
All I can say is, my comp is toast, and its happened so fast. Damn curveballs.

ps yes the gary folder is safe and continues to live on

Wrench in the gears

Car puns. Yep that's how we're ROLLING around here.

*Bah dum tshhhh*

So I've gotten word that the station manager job has already been filled, and spoilers: It's not me. Though I'm sort of relieved about that, because with my current job, another one in the fall would've really complicated things. I am still sad about not getting it but ah well. I just gotta be happy with the success I am having and TRUCK on.

The voice demo thing is indefinitely sorta maybe not but maybe so but no idea happening. It'll be cool if it works out but it's a free service for something normally paid so if it doesnt happen no biggie. I might just schedule a real deal appointment and fork monies over if I really want it that bad.

Later this summer, I'm going to be involved in scouting out places to help a certain PTEr. This is going to be good for both parties since he needs a place and we'll both be learning about how to get apartments and what to look for, etc. After staying with my sister I have a vague idea of what moving out on ones own entails (Especially when paired with year 2 and its monetary hemorrhage hell), so it'll be nice to learn more and have a better idea of what I'm going to be up against sometime in the next few years.

I must now end this post in yet another car pun as I am DRIVEN to do so.

Tube Plugs

I'm 3 days in to my new job, and so far it's going pretty alright. I can't help shake a feeling of being a nuisance, since I'm still learning and don't have all the procedures and protocol down.
But I'm trying to stay optimistic and try my best to get less awful at everything.

Work aside, not much else is going on. I've been watching one of my friends from uni play-through of Paper Mario, he's got me hooked at the very least, didn't even know he made let's plays!
Speaking of friends doing let's plays, The only known New City PTE reader has been making videos recently too! (You're welcome Dyland)

On the note of Youtube, I've found some of the other usual people I've been following on Youtube are shifting their content to try to appeal to different audiences, and in that, I'm finding I'm less and less inclined to watch their stuff.
Because of that, I'm not as interested in doing Youtube as I once was. The regiment required to stay profitable, the taxation of time needed to produce quality content, and the ability to stay interesting and engaging just seems way above my head. Not to mention I have zero clue how the behind the scenes works, or how a youtube career even 'begins'. (I get upload videos get views, but after that it's "??? profit" to me)
Maybe someday, but maybe something else. Shall see what happens.
